Testimonials

"It is my genuine pleasure to recommend Melissa Nagin, whom I have known and worked with for many years. Melissa is a well-qualified and excellent lactation consultant and has helped me provide knowledge and advice to numerous parents. She knows her subject very well, is patient, understanding, and most of all, caring. The feedback that I receive from people I have referred is always very positive and, in fact, they are delighted with the help they get. Melissa is an expert in the field of lactation."
-- Ben Glassman, MD--Pediatrician; Mamaroneck, NY

"Melissa's sensible and relaxed approach to breastfeeding has helped so many of my patients. Having a newborn can be an extremely overwhelming experience(particularly for a first time Mom) and Melissa has really helped so many women make this transition. Her extensive knowledge of the physiology of lactation and her command of the breastfeeding literature has made her an incredibly valuable resource for me and my obstetric and postpartum patients. While so many lactation consultants assume a very dogmatic approach to nursing, Melissa's low-key and practical manner has put so many of my patients at ease and helped them succeed at breastfeeding."
-- Rebecca Brightman, MD--OB/GYN; New York, NY

"I can’t say enough about how much Melissa’s professional help has made nursing my second child a wonderful experience. Melissa resolved the issues related to latching on, pain, and supply issues that I had. Thanks to her, I have achieved my goal of nursing for three months, and I have no intention of stopping now. I only wish I had known a lactation consultant while nursing my first child which was a difficult, at times unpleasant, and short-lived experience."
-- Jennifer S., Westchester County.

"Melissa was a great help to me when I was breastfeeding my third child. I had seen lactation consultants before and still had difficulties with my first two babies. I thought that it was just going to be painful for me. With Melissa's help, I had my first great, painless nursing experience. I recommend her highly."

"My husband and I took Melissa’s breastfeeding class at the 92nd Street Y when I was about 8 months pregnant. I loved her easy going attitude and found her teaching style to be very “user friendly”. I left the class full of confidence and much more knowledgeable about breastfeeding in general. However, the first time I called Melissa I was in tears. I had cracked and bleeding nipples, was sleep deprived, and questioning breastfeeding all together. Melissa immediately calmed me down and assured me that everything would be ok. She helped me identify that my positioning was probably the reason for my sore nipples. She also provided me with helpful hints to heal and later to help me boost my milk supply when I worried that my baby wasn’t getting enough milk. Melissa has repeatedly kept in touch with me since and has been an invaluable resource, offering me helpful advice, wonderful support, and much needed encouragement. She is probably the only reason that I continued breastfeeding past that tearful first phone call. I am now into my 8th month of nursing and have every intention to breastfeed until my son’s first birthday. Even my husband is amazed that I have kept at it this long!"
--Jill O., Manhattan.

"Melissa was the perfect lactation consultant for us in so many ways. She is extremely knowledgeable, relying on medical research and proven lactation techniques rather than simple traditions or breastfeeding "folklore". Melissa also has extensive experience -- there isn't any breastfeeding problem that she hasn't seen before. And best of all, Melissa is simply a great teacher. She has an easygoing but firm style, providing gentle coaching exactly where and how it is needed. Dealing with breastfeeding challenges can be the single most stressful part of new parenthood, and we highly recommend Melissa as a lactation consultant and friend!"
--Matt and Tricia J., New York City.

"Melissa was an amazing resource and source of support to me both before birth, when she taught me nursing basics, and once my son was born. She offered sound advice, was never judgmental and I always felt comfortable speaking to her, even about the seemingly most private of matters. With Melissa's help, I was able to exclusively give my son breast milk, through a combination of pumping and nursing even while working full time."

Wall Street Journal Omits Important Fact...Original article. In this article "Freezing Cuts Nutrients in Breast Milk", the author cites a recent study of the effects of refrigeration and freezing on antioxidant activity in breastmilk. This article omits vital information about formula in comparison to breastmilk and fails to point out that babies who are fed frozen breastmilk are still significantly better protected than those being fed formula.
